Driver License & State ID FAQs

If your Driver License / State ID is current or within one (1) year of having expired then you just need to bring your old Driver License / State ID in with you in order to renew.

If you do not have your old Driver License / State ID then you can still come into renew.

If your Driver License / State ID is current or within one (1) year of having expired then you do not have to bring anything in with you in order to replace your Driver License / State ID. Keep in mind you are only allowed a certain number of replacements between renewals.

If your Driver License / State ID is expired by more than one (1) year, you are required to bring a state issued certified birth certificate with you in order to complete your renewal.

If you do not have the proper birth certificate you will need to contact a driver license examiner station to confirm alternative types of identification and you will have to present that identification to a driver license examiner. Alternative forms of identification are not acceptable at a tag agency.

Driver Licenses that are over three (3) years expired require seeing an examiner.

No. You cannot obtain an original State ID card at a tag agency. This applies even though you already have an Oklahoma Driver License. You must go to an exam station in order to create your State ID record in the system prior to visiting a tag agency for issuance. This does not apply to State ID renewals or replacements in most cases.
